Maya Muscles
Welcome to my research page all about Maya muscles!
I specifically chose Maya muscles to focus on for this part of my research as I've always enjoyed human/creature anatomy and being able to achieve realistic muscle deformations is something that I would love to achieve in my future animations.
The research will be mainly focused on the upper torso of a humanoid body. This includes the major muscles located on the chest and arms and getting the correct deformation in both relaxed and flexed states.
Muscles achieved with help from Pluralsight (Digital Tutors).

How Muscles WorkMuscles in normal human anatomy work in a series of flexing muscles and stretched muscles. For example, when the bicep is flexed, the opposite muscle, the triceps is stretched or "relaxed". When the triceps is flexed, the biceps becomes stretched or "relaxed". When idle, the muscles are at rest.

Model and PreparationFor my research model, I made a Venom (Marvel comic book villain) character. I decided upon him since most comic book heroes and villains are more top-heavy which makes him perfect.
Currently just simply rigged and modelled. No sculpting has been applied as so you can see the proper effect muscles has on the model. |
